Dallas Semiconductor High Speed Micros (HSMs) are 8051-compatible cores which execute instructions in fewer oscillator periods. This results in a 3-4X speed improvement over the 8051 using the same crystal. Plus HSMs can use a 33 or 40 MHz crystal. This gives you a 7-10X execution increase. Or you can use the same or slower crystal and greatly reduce power consumption. Systronix High Speed Micro development boards are the quickest way to prototype an HSM system. |
